Workforce Central Florida:  Elementary Science Olympiad.  Open to 200 - 5th grade teachers from Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake and Sumter Counties.  Each teacher will receive a stipend and $100 worth of supplies and materials.  All workshops conducted at a location within each county. AFCEA GRANT:  The Air Force Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) has generously donated over $6000 to Florida Science Olympiad for NEW team recruitment and training. 

6 NEW teams, middle and/or high school will receive:

  • Paid State Tournament registration ($180 value)
  • Paid Registration to the Orlando Coaches Conference workshop ($125 value)
  • New Coaches Manual (tips for starting and maintaining a Science Olympiad team) ($20 value)
  • Travel funds to conference or competition (Up to $250)
  • Materials and supplies for competition ($425 value)

Requirements:

  1. School has to be Title I and never competed in a state or regional competition, or has not competed in the last 10 years.
  2. OR School received a D or F.
  3. Team must compete in the state tournament.
  4. Team coach must attend the Coaches Conference
  5. Complete a past tournament survey.
  6. Principal must agree to pay for registration and any materials up to $425 value.  When the team has competed in either a regional or state competition, these funds will be reimbursed to the school.

The deadline for application is October 1, 2008.
